November 8, 2019 etc.venues 133 Houndsditch

The annual PPA Independent Publisher Conference & Awards took place on Friday November 8 at its brand new venue, etc.venues 133 Houndsditch. It brought together independent publishers from across the UK to network, learn, and celebrate this vibrant, growing sector of the magazine and business media industry.

The half-day conference on the morning of November 8, took a look at recent industry changes, what's to come, and how you can help steer your business in the right direction. The Awards, which took place immediately after the conference, celebrated the dynamic creative contribution and entrepreneurial spirit of the UK's independent publishing community.

Winning a PPA award is such an honour! It’s a truly extraordinary thing to be recognised by our industry peers, and means so much to our team and our company as a whole. We even value the process: it’s useful to take time to work on our entries and reflect on how much we’ve accomplished over the year. I think the Independent Publishing arm of the PPA is also really essential:  recognising the unique achievements of companies with different resources is of great value to the wider publishing industry.

We are always delighted to be a part of the IPN/PPA Awards. As a growing brand, it is the perfect showcase for our expanding portfolio of publications, events and digital activities. To leave the 2019 event holding four trophies was beyond our wildest expectations - and an amazing reward for the whole team who worked so hard to justify the prize haul.

The awards truly help with our commercial relationships, helping enhance our credibility through the recognition of IPN/ PPA.

We'll be back!

Winning the PPA award for 'Independent Publishing Company of the Year' for the third time in 2018 was a very humbling experience and a wonderful accolade. The PPA awards are the Oscars of the UK media industry, so this achievement is a real tribute to the hard work and innovation of the 1854 Media team.
